Coming into a new era and sound, pop singer Charli XCX is ready for some serious change and is entering the part of her music that she calls “ultra pop.” Dropping new photos, giving fans a release date for her new song, and announcing a podcast, the singer is on a roll teasing fans with more and more content.

On August 2, the singer’s birthday, Charli released the cover photo for her upcoming single “Good Ones” and revealed the song would be released about a month later, on September 2. Featuring the singer in a gorgeous blue-green dress and big hair, Charli looks gorgeous and seems to really be embracing this new journey with her music. After announcing the upcoming release, the singer also posted a series of photos, one captioned “rip hyperpop?” as a final goodbye to her old sound, ready to be done with “being authentic,” as quoted from her recent interview with Refinery 29.

Along with preparing for new music, Charli has also released the first episode of her new podcast on BBC Radio 1 titled Best Song Ever. As stated in a teaser post, it covers everything from “heavyweight discussions about the best songs ever for funerals, breakdowns, and parties.” The first episode features french singer-songwriter ChristineandtheQueens, with future episodes planning to feature others like Mark Ronson and Barbie Ferreira. Fans of the pop singer definitely shouldn’t miss this debut episode; otherwise, “your life will be ruined,” according to Charli herself.

In her recent interview with Refinery29, the singer talked about the podcast inspiration saying, “I truly am fascinated with funerals,” continuing also stating that they’re kind of ” like the final party, but people don’t really get to plan it for themselves. So I thought I should get some official answers on the record so that everyone’s funerals can, you know, go to plan.” While not encouraging or promoting funerals, the singer’s interest in that realm of topics should make for an interesting podcast.

Gaining popularity with her smash hit “Boom Clap” and also being featured on the ever-popular feature on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Charli XCX has become quite the popular pop star over the years. Making a total of six albums with her 2020 quarantine release how i’m feeling now, being her latest, the singer has made great music with other popular artists like Lizzo and Troye Sivan, and over the years has really honed the essence of pop music throughout her discography. With this new sound on the way, and a recent snippet of what’s to come, fans are ready and excited for new content from Charli.
