‘The Crown’ Gives First Glimpse of Princess Diana and Prince Charles in Season 5
On August 17, The Crown gave a first look at Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Dominic West as Prince Charles. The Netflix Original Series, which follows the British royal family through the years, began production last month and is starting its fifth season.

Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West will take over the royal family roles that used to be played by Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor. In season four, Emma Corrin played a young Diana marrying Prince Charles. Throughout the fourth season, Princess Diana was shown to be dealing with an eating disorder, as well as an affair with James Hewitt, who was played by Daniel Donskoy. The affair occurred after Princess Diana learned of Prince Charles having his own affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, who was played by Emerald Fennel.

According to Variety, the audience for The Crown will most likely watch the “annus horribilis” for the royal family in season 5, which is described as the year of misfortune. The “annus horribilis” included the public finding out about Prince Charles and Bowles’ affair, Sarah Ferguson sunbathing topless with a male friend, and the Queen’s three out of four children experiencing separation from their partners.

Elizabeth Debicki is an Australian actress best known for her roles as Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy, Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby, and Kat in Tenet.
