Anthony Mackie Officially Cast for New Installment of Captain America Franchise
After the expected success from the mini-series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie is officially set to return to the Captain America film series.
The head writer and creator of FAWS was revealed to be working toward continuing the Captain America franchise with a fourth installment of the film back in April.
Spellman plans to co-write the script alongside Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the critically acclaimed Disney+ series.
As the FAWS series officially closed out Captain America’s character arc with Mackie being the official wielder of the shield, the plot of the next film is still up in the air.

Sam Wilson, played by Mackie, is suspected to be the central person to this film’s story. Despite Chris Evans’ superhero role seemingly having an ending in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has yet to confirm if he could still make a reappearance.
No director has been attached to the film, and additionally, no cast other than Mackie has been set. FAWS co-star Sebastian Stan is an integral part of the Captain America universe, so it would come as no surprise if he is next to be announced on the cast list.
2020 was the first time since 2009 Marvel went a full year without releasing a project, but their highly anticipated laundry list of new content has them slated until 2023.
With that in mind, this continuation of the star-spangled series should not be expected earlier than late 2023. Fans of the franchise will surely be holding onto their seats until then.
