Everything You Need to Know About the FDA Approved Pfizer Vaccine
On Monday, August 23, the United States Food and Drug Administration officially approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine helps prevent COVID-19 among people ages 16 years and up. This is the first vaccine to be approved to move above the emergency use status. The emergency use status is when a vaccine or a medical device is unapproved however, still able to use when in a public health emergency. The emergency use status is still in effect for children ages 12 to 15 due to the need for more studies.
Since the release of the Pfizer vaccine in December, an estimated 204 million shots have been administered. Pfizer, also known as Pfizer-BioNTech, underwent thousands of studies before being approved. FDA scientists have found that out of 40,000 participants the vaccine was 91% effective in stopping COVID-19. Immediate action has been implemented since the approval by the FDA.
The FDA has officially approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. While all three COVID vaccines have met FDA’s strict standards for emergency use, this FDA approval should give added confidence that this vaccine is safe and effective.

The Pfizer vaccine has full FDA approval now.
For anyone out there who was hesitant, there is literally no reason not to get it now! (Unless your doctor says otherwise for personal health reasons)
It joins the other dozens of vaccines you already got as a kid. https://t.co/SfMbPntH9b
The United States military has now made it mandatory for all service members to be fully vaccinated. The timeline of completion for service members will be announced in the following days. President Joe Biden set up a press conference following the events urging Americans to get the vaccine.

During President Biden’s speech, he told Americans “The overwhelming majority of people in the hospital with Covid-19 or almost all those dying from Covid-19 are not vaccinated, not vaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated – both shots, plus two weeks– your risk of severe illness with Covid-19 is very, very low.” As of right now, roughly 51% of Americans are fully vaccinated. It is anticipated that more Americans will become vaccinated due to the approval of the vaccine.
Let me say this loud and clear: If you are one of the millions of Americans who have said that you will get the shot when it had full FDA approval — that has now happened.
