Elizabeth Olsen Sides with Scarlett Johansson Amid Disney Lawsuit
Scarlet Witch is siding with Black Widow. Elizabeth Olsen, 32, expressed support for her fellow Marvel co-star, Scarlett Johansson, amid the Disney lawsuit.
During her interview with Vanity Fair, the two-time award-winning actress was asked a variety of questions by actor Jason Sudeikis, including about Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson and the lawsuit. That’s when Olsen had Johansson’s back.
“I’m worried about a bunch of things,” Olsen responded. “Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf. But I’m worried about small movies getting the opportunity to be seen in theaters. That was already a thing pre-COVID.”
“I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett,” Olsen added, “When it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not.”

Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney after she claimed they breached her contract by making Black Widow available on Disney+ for $29.99 due to the COVID pandemic. Johansson further explained how the movie’s performance was linked to the hybrid release. This, as a result, caused Johansson to lose millions of dollars.
Disney denies breaching Johansson’s contract. The studio giant explained how Johansson’s contract didn’t include “exclusive theatrical release.” However, Disney did comply with the actress, shelling out $20 million dollars in order to appease her. Now Johansson is asking for $50 million dollars from them. Disney further shared how Johansson was “callous” about the audience’s fear of the pandemic. The lawsuit will be moving through private arbitration proceedings
