ABC has dropped the first extended sneak peek for the new upcoming dramedy series, Queens. The story will revolve around four former bandmates from a popular 90’s hip-hop group who reunite to revive their careers years later to add more color and swag to their dull everyday lives.

The network has also outdone themselves with an awesome star-studded cast including artists Brandy, Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez.

The four 40-something-year-old women used to be a risque 90’s hip-hop group, Nasty B**ches. Eve will play as Professor Sex, Naturi Naughton as Da Thrill, Nadine Velazquez as Butter Pecan, and Brandy as Xplicit Lyrics.

Directed by Tim Story, the series is created and executive produced by Scandal’s Zahir McGhee and will feature original music executive produced by Co-founder of Versuz, Swizz Beatz.

A sense of nostalgia and reunions will also be happening on and off-screen since Swizz Beatz worked alongside Who’s That Girl rapper, Eve during the Ruff Ryders era. According to Billboard, Swizz said in an interview:

“Eve is my sister. So the idea of being able to sonically revisit the ’90s where we started and create a strong sound was a win-win.”

Additionally, the series’ central theme is to give off the message that there is no age limit to one’s creativity. In fact, Swizz sets his main focal point on pushing for platforms that provide opportunities for veteran voices.

Swizz also said in an interview:

“A lot of people like to put an age limit on our culture’s music; if you’re 30, you’re old and it’s over. This is while many non-African American acts are still making albums and doing tours. Verzuz has shown that it’s not about age. That great, timeless music is about what you bring as a creative and the access you have to get out in front of people’s faces.”

Queens will premiere on ABC Tuesday, October 19, 2021. To stay updated, follow their official Instagram page.
