BTS Racks up Three More Awards at the 2021 VMAs
The young group is at it again. BTS racked up three more awards at last night’s ceremony. They won the awards for Best K-Pop Group, Song of the Summer, and Group of the Year. Both awards were for their smash hit “Butter.” J-Hope, JungKook, and Jin thanked their fans on behalf of the group.

“Thanks for this honor,” J-Hope said. “Sorry we couldn’t be there, but hopefully next time, we will.” JungKook added, “We feel so blessed and grateful for all the love we’ve received this year.” Jin ended the speech with, “Shout out to Army, the best people in the world!”

In addition to Best K-Pop Group, the band won Group of the Year for the third year in a row. Again, the band thanked the VMAs and their fans for the award.
“Thank you, VMAs, for the Group of the Year award!” Jimin said.
“Army, this is all possible thanks to you guys,” RM shared. “Although we can’t meet in person, we feel your love every minute and second.” Member Suga added, “We love you, and we miss you.”

In 2020 VMAs, the K-Pop group took home five awards: Best K-Pop Group, Song of the Summer, Choreography, Pop Video, and Best Group. Since then, BTS would go on to accomplish a lot. Throughout the year, “Dynamite” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, “Butter” stayed number one on the Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart for seven weeks,” Permission to Dance” took over “Butter’s” place, landed in the 2022’s Guinness World Records, brought home over $130 million in merchandise alone, and more.

The members consist of V, 25, Jungkook, 24, Ji-min, 25, RM, 27, Jin, 28, Suga, 28, and J-Hope, 27. The band was formed in 2010 during a series of auditions for a South Korean entertainment company called Big Hit Entertainment. The company recruited the members and trained them in singing and dancing lessons. By the summer of 2013, the group made its debut. Since then, the group has taken over the charts and fans’ hearts.
