Naomi Osaka’s Fashion Moment at the Met Gala
Naomi Osaka had a huge fashion moment with her colorful dress and ruffled cape that embraced her true identity as she made an appearance at the Met Gala.
As culture plays a huge role in one’s identity, often enough it is incorporated into who we are as individuals. Fashion is one of the biggest aspects a person can truly express who they are. 23-year old activist, athlete, and entrepreneur Naomi Osaka showed us the true meaning of how important her culture is to her.
Osaka’s custom Louis Vuttion dress consisted of colorful, graphic jacquard- topped with a silk-mix cape featuring 22 ruffles, 18 meters of leather satin, and a 50-meter silk hem.

Although the dress was bold and made a statement within itself, there was much more of a significance to the dress with the underlying message of the print that covered the bustier and skirt which was what really represented Osaka’s culture.

Additionally, the dress made another significant statement in the sense that it celebrated the rich diversity in American fashion. With diversity being something so important to American culture, the uniqueness of the dress allowed Osaka’s diversity in her culture to shine through at the Met Gala.
