St. Vincent Shares Title Track to Upcoming Mockumentary ‘The Nowhere Inn’
St. Vincent has provided fans with one final look at her upcoming mockumentary, The Nowhere Inn before it becomes available to the public. The Nowhere Inn is a collaborative film between St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein.
Back in August, St. Vincent uploaded a video to her social media detailing what The Nowhere Inn would be about. She wrote on Twitter, “A rock doc gone awry becomes a meditation on persona, friendship, & fame in the hilarious & truly unclassifiable #TheNowhereInn written by & starring St. Vincent & Carrie Brownstein.” The “Daddy’s Home” singer is good friends with Brownstein, a musician best known for her work in bands Excuse 17, Sleater-Kinney, and Wild Flag.

On September 15, just two days before fans can watch The Nowhere Inn, St. Vincent revealed the soundtrack and uploaded a music video to the title track. The video begins with the singer looking elegant as ever in a green gown singing the song behind a curtain. Once the red curtains open, fans are shocked to find that it is not St. Vincent singing, but her doppelganger is to a packed audience, wearing her identical green gown. The two mimic each other’s hand gestures, and it is not until the curtain closes when St. Vincent begins to chase the wannabe St. Vincent.

As the darkness fades to light, St. Vincent finds the fake St. Vincent. She tries to turn the imposter behind but in a surprising turn of events, the singer does not have a face at all. Horrified, St. Vincent pulls a ring out of the fake performer’s hair and eats it. The video is aesthetically pleasing and is already being compared to the work of iconic filmmaker David Lynch.
