Dua Lipa Thanks Japanese Fans With New Animated Video for ‘Levitating’
Pop-star Dua Lipa has taken her global hit “Levitating” to new heights with the release of a brand new animated music video. The video pays homage to the beloved 90s Japanese manga and anime series, Sailor Moon, taking the singer on a fabulous, cosmic journey as she transforms into her very own Sailor Scout.
♥*♡ I’m so happy that Levitating has been doing it’s thing in Japan *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ so we made an animated video which is now up on youtube! ♥*♡ enjoy xx https://t.co/k5ArCUQiMV pic.twitter.com/qDZXZ8GBOW

“Levitating” sees Dua driving through the galaxy in a cute pink convertible, getting all dolled up at her magical crystal vanity, and performing on stage with a pair of futuristic androids. The whole mood is cool and celestial, with plenty of the nostalgic glitz and glam of the original Sailor Moon show, and Easter-egg appearances of some of its most iconic moments.
The project was created by up-and-coming animation team Nostalook, who are popular for their unique and distinctive style. The company shared via Twitter that they were aiming to recreate the “retro and cute atmosphere” of 80s anime onscreen, and hope that fans enjoy watching the new video as much as they enjoyed making it.
