The talented Britney Spears started out her career just at the young age of 11-years-old, where she starred in the all-new Mickey Mouse Club. Since then, she has won many awards, such as the Billboard Music Award for Top Female Artist in 1999, a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2005, and an MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year in 2008. However, her mental health started to take a toll on her life.

Back in early 2008, after an awful year of mental health concerns and life events, the conservatorship was made permanent. As a result, this made the singer’s dad, Jamie Spears, the conservator over the estate of his daughter.

She has attempted to remove her father as a conservator through legal action several different times. On May 10, 2019, Spears discussed her conservatorship in a court hearing, but the record was sealed. On September 9, 2019, her dad stepped away as conservator due to health issues, so Jodi Montomergy temporality replaced him. On July 23, 2020, the #FreeBritney movement began to gain popularity, therefore shedding light on this big issue.

On September 3, 2020, Spears filed an objection to another court filing in the case being sealed, saying, “The World is Watching.” According to court documents, the conservatorship extended through September 2021. Later, on March 25, 2021, her Lawyer requested Montgomery to permanently replace her father.

As the case has been far from simple, Spears’ father filed a petition to end the conservatorship on Tuesday, September 7. This is a huge victory for Spears.

As Spears starts to finally gain victory in finding freedom, she will stop at nothing to establish having full ownership of her life.
