Japanese Breakfast Collaborates With Noona’s for Fall Special ‘Persimmon Jubilee’ Ice Cream Flavor
Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner has teamed up with Noona’s Ice Cream for a fall special ice cream flavor: Persimmon Jubilee. Zauner is thrilled to be partnering with the trailblazing Asian-American ice cream company.
The “Kokomo, IN” singer took to social media on September 21, to reveal a special surprise for fans of the fall season and food. Zauner began their post wishing their followers a ‘Happy Chuseok,’ which is Korean Thanksgiving Day. Zauner is one to always pay homage to their Korean roots, so what better way than to cook up something special with Noona’s Ice Cream?
Noona’s Ice Cream is a proud Asian-American ice cream company founded in 2016. The term “noona” is Korean for “big sister.” According to their website, “noona” is used in Korea as a term of endearment for an older female that one admires and respects. This is a special term for Zauner, who writes in their memoir, Crying in H Mart about the loving bond they held with their late mother through food. Zauner’s mother was a good noona.
Zauner and Noona’s came up with the name “Persimmon Jubilee,” which pays homage to Zauner’s third studio album, Jubilee, released in June. Persimmon Jubilee is also based on Sujeonggwa, which is a sweet Korean punch that consists of dried persimmons soaked in fresh ginger root tea, cinnamon sticks, and honey for a sweet finish. Zauner’s collaboration with Noona’s consists of dried, candied persimmon chunks and other flavorful mixtures.
As Fall is quickly approaching, fans will certainly want to try the Noona’s x Japanese Breakfast ice cream flavor. Persimmon Jubilee is available for pre-order beginning with those that are members of Noona’s Test Club.
