Adam Devine Reprising His ‘Pitch Perfect’ Role for Spinoff Series
Adam Devine is reprising his role as Bumper Allen from Pitch Perfect for a spinoff series set to stream on Peacock. Actress Elizabeth Banks will produce the untitled show. She starred alongside Devine in the movies which brought in over $500 million within the box office and a dedicated fanbase of “Bellas.”
Excited to expand the #PitchPerfect universe with the amazing @ADAMDEVINE back as Bumper! @peacockTV https://t.co/b9tLsKOLd0

Details are being kept under wraps for now. However, we know that the series takes place a few years after the events of Pitch Perfect 3. The is when one of Bumper’s songs gains attention in Berlin, and he moves to Germany to reinvigorate his music career.
Bumper served as an antagonist throughout the Pitch Perfect trilogy, particularly against the Barden Bellas. He led the all-male group (The Trebelmakers) and was romantically involved with Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) during the second movie. Upon graduating, Bumper became a backup singer for John Mayer before returning to Barden University as a security guard.

“We are so fortunate that Adam Devine is headlining the series and bringing fans the quirky, laugh-out-loud sensibility they loved in the film franchise,” Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming stated, according to Variety.
While fans are excited about the upcoming series, some are left wondering about the fate of the Barden Bellas. Mostly for Fat Amy, Beca (Anna Kendrick), and Chloe (Brittany Snow), who stole our hearts all those years ago. This trilogy celebrates female-centric themes of empowerment, and eliminating our favorite Bellas from the narrative does no one any justice.
when beca said “you guys are family and you don’t walk away from family” i felt that bc i knew she was talking about the legacy of the bellas and how they made everything mean so much more in the pitch perfect series. definitely wasn’t thinking about bumper. pic.twitter.com/xkZjv3qGlw

who cares about the men from pitch perfect we were watching for the WOMEN https://t.co/A0UQKRTA8o

pitch perfect is often praised for its female ensemble and the symbolism behind their comedic wins; we see close female friendships on screen that aren’t entirely governed by the men around them – still a rarity in cinema.

let’s take that away for the guy nobody likes…? why?? https://t.co/K3fTrrUNhc
Still, the idea of watching Bumper tread around Germany is promising. Devine himself took to Instagram to share his “excitement to breathe life back into my boy Bump.”
Series producers include Max Handelman and Paul Brooks, who took on the same roles for the Pitch Perfect movies. The two will write the show and serve as executive producer and showrunner along with Megan Amram (The Good Place).
That’s all we know for now. Be sure to follow along with Adam Devine on Instagram for behind the scene footage and updates from filming.
