Putting together a SuperBowl Halftime Show is a massive task that only the best of the best can pull off; now, imagine doing it during a global pandemic.

Back in February, we were blinded by the lights of The Weeknd’s exceptional Super Bowl Halftime Show; now, we get to go behind the scenes with Showtime’s new documentary The Show.

The Show is a 90-minute documentary that features all of the elements needed to create such a fantastic show, not to mention that this halftime show was one of the first major live productions since COVID-19.

The trailer for the documentary was released in early September, and fans got a minor glimpse into the process of putting together a massive 12-minute stage show during a global pandemic. Throughout the trailer, we see and hear from different people associated with the performance.

Choreographer Charm La’Donna is seen putting together the routine through a zoom call with 55 dancers, which we probably would have questioned before 2020. While other members of The Weeknd’s team emphasize just how important it is to deliver because “whatever happens on that floor is history.”

The pressure was indeed on the XO team as The Weeknd spent $7 million out of his own pocket to create the cinematic universe he envisioned. Without all of the blood and gore, he planned to continue the narrative from his latest album, After Hours. Due to this specific narrative, there was no room for special guests as fans anticipated.

Before watching the documentary, fans can relive the beautiful madness here.

The Show premieres on September 24 at 9 PM E.T on Showtime.
