In 2022, a telescope will not be necessary as the moon will be coming down to earth in the upcoming sci-fi flick, Moonfall. The film will be directed by Roland Emmerich, who is the master of disaster movies such as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow.

Moonfall unlocks a world-shattering event where the moon is mysteriously knocked out of its orbit and headed for a collision with Earth. The story will follow a NASA executive, an astronaut, and a conspiracy theorist who learn about the upcoming catastrophic event and must come up with a plan to stop it in order to save humanity.

Although it’s not too clear what caused the anticipated Universe apocalypse, the trailer appears to hint to viewers that an alien-like machine may be the culprit.

The anxiety-inducing film will be starring Halle Berry (Jo Fowler), Patrick Wilson (Brian Harper), John Bradley (K.C. Houseman), Charlie Plummer (Sonny Harper), Kelly Yu (Michelle), Michael Pena (Tom Lopez), Eme Ikwukakor (Doug Davidson), Carolina Bartsczak (Brenda Lopez), and Donald Sutherland (Holdenfield).

According to The Verge, the movie synopsis reads:

“These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is,” the description reads.

Aside from Emmerich, the Sci-Fi film is written by Harold Kloser and Spenser Cohen. Additionally, the upcoming flick will be produced by Kloser and Emmerich.

Moonfall is scheduled to be released on Friday, February 4, 2022. For fans who would like to stay updated, be sure to follow the official Instagram and Twitter.
