Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, Kali Uchis drops a new denim line with Colombian technology to enhance your experience and butt.

Bodied by Uchis takes inspiration from the “Telepatia” singer’s native Colombian roots. The line was produced by local denim designers in Colombia, who found their muse on the colorful streets. Uchis decided to create her own version of levanta colas denim technology, which enhances your butt with a lift.

Uchis explains, ”Colombians invented this engineering of denim technology that incorporates spandex and elastane, so it really lifts your butt and makes it look very round and perky.”

All of the jeans are influenced from the ‘90s to early 2000s aesthetic, which is the generation Uchis was born in. From childhood to teenage years, then to successful adulthood, Uchis has been in jeans her whole life. Especially, levanta cola jeans. The jeans offer a taste of Colombian culture, as they are a highlight of Latin influence in the fashion industry.

In addition, Uchis was inspired by the women in her life. She looked up to Shakira as a major influence since she is a popular Colombian artist. Uchis also looked to her aunts for inspiration, to be put together and confident with femininity. It was then Uchis became in touch with her femininity and explored more of her style.

The Latin lyrists explains, “Part of my mission as an artist, since I’m Colombian, I’ve always wanted people to just see that there’s so much more to Colombia than just the stereotypical things…We invented this denim engineering that’s utilized by so many brands now…I want to start a brand that’s 100 percent made in Columbia, that’s ethical and eco-friendly, with my personal take.”

Uchis has a limited supply of her jeans to keep her products in line with quality. There will be no mass productions or repeated jeans sold again because this degrades the quality over time. Instead, there will be multiple lines dropped for everyone to shop.

The jeans are open for all body types as Uchis explains that being Latina does not mean the same experience for every woman. She describes, “For a long time, people would look at Latinas and couldn’t acknowledge that not all of us are curvy or have a certain shape– Latinos come in every shape and every color.”

Overall, like every other art that Uchis produces, her heart and cultural roots are always found. Her line Bodied is a love letter to her country for teaching her all the beautiful things about being Colombian.

She leaves us with, “It’s almost like our own version of self-hate in a way when we don’t embrace our own styles. It’s all about being true to [Latina] style– that’s the true focus…Plus, I don’t know anybody who doesn’t want their butt to look good in their pants, you know?”

Take it from the fashion and Latina queen herself, and get yourself a pair ASAP.
