Chris Harrison is passing the mantle to Jesse Palmer to become the host of season 26 of The Bachelor.

The new host shared his excitement in a statement from US Weekly. “For more than 20 years, The Bachelor has brought the world dozens of unforgettable love stories, including at one time, my own. Falling in love is one of life’s greatest gifts, and I am humbled by the opportunity to return to the show as host this season to offer the newest Bachelor advice gained from firsthand experience and I am grateful to play a small part in his journey.”

Harrison departed from The Bachelor for racially insensitive comments. Former The Bachelor winner Rachel Kirkconnell was attacked for attending a plantation-themed party in 2018 and liking Confederate-flag TikTok videos. Harrison defended Kirkconnell’s actions. This resulted in Harrison losing his position as host. ABC and Warner Bros confirmed this by thanking Harrison for his twenty-year run as host in June.

Harrison took to Instagram to share thankfulness for the opportunity. Harrison wrote “I’ve had a truly incredible run as host of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise and now I’m excited to start a new chapter. I’m so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we’ve made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime.”

This isn’t the first taste of being on TV for Palmer. In addition to being a contestant on season 5 of The Bachelor, he was an athlete. Palmer was a sports commentator on Fox, then ESPN. Since his appearances on The Bachelor were so successful, he ended up hosting multiple reality shows: ABC’s The Ultimate Surfer, The Proposal, Holiday Baking Championship on the Food Network, and many Disney Park Christmas Day Parades.

The Bachelor is set to air sometime in 2022. In the meantime, fans can watch the new season of its counterpart, The Bachelorette October 19, 2021 on ABC.
