Kacey Musgraves Performs New Song ‘Justified’ Nude on ‘SNL’
Kacey Musgraves returned to Saturday Night Live on October 2, the premiere of the show’s 47th season, and performed two new songs from her latest album, Star-Crossed. The Texas native paid homage to Jenny from Forrest Gump with a nude Saturday Night Live performance of “Justified.” She also sang “Camera Roll,” complete with enchanting visuals.
Musgraves is no stranger to the late-night show. She made her SNL debut in 2018, singing two songs from her album Golden Hour. The first was the upbeat disco-esque song “High Horse,” followed by “Slow Burn,” a stripped-down, reflective tune.
Fast forward to 2021—the singer shocked audiences by taking the stage covered only by her guitar and calf-length cowboy boots. Like a reflection of the emotional vulnerability of the song, Musgraves gave an acoustic rendition of “Justified” in the nude.

The SNL guest confirmed that the wardrobe choice, or lack thereof, was a nod to Jenny Curran in a tweet on October 2. However, many had already made the connection.

Musgraves then sang “Camera Roll,” one of the most emotionally challenging listens from Star-Crossed, barefoot. Fans noticed the singer seemed to choke up, singing the line “It does me favors.” It was a beautiful performance.

With the September debut of her album Star-Crossed, the singer-songwriter has been pretty busy. The album draws inspiration from her divorce and explores themes of loneliness, regret, and reflection.
