Billy Porter Spills About New Single Co-written by Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall
Pose star Billy Porter teased his return to music with the upcoming single “Children” co-written by Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall. The fashion icon most recently graced our screens as the Fabulous Godmother in Cinderella. But Porter is also known for his musical talents – his first album released in 1997.

Porter revealed the news during an acceptance speech at Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards on Thursday night. The Little Mix singer helped write the track along with MNEK.
“Shot the video in America last week. It’s a full thing,” Porter shared in his speech. “She’s coming out honey, daddy’s coming back. She’s getting ready to have a full Tina Turner comeback, b*tch!”

He was given the Man of the Year award for his inspiring bravery during the last year. Among other things, the seasoned actor and performer opened up about living as a queer man with HIV. But Porter is more than these labels. According to Attitude Magazine’s Instagram post, he is also an “actor, writer, storyteller and red carpet extraordinaire” who “lives his life unapologetically and isn’t afraid to speak his truth.”
But that only scratches the surface of Porter’s recent projects. He revealed his past trauma in a new memoir Unprotected. He relays his childhood in Pittsburgh, being raised by a mother with a disability. More-so, the outspoken gay, Black actor was raised in a conservative Pentecostal community but never let that stop him from living his truth.
“At 52 years old, I am getting to the deepest parts of my truth,” Porter told People Magazine. “I’m having a rebirth — on my own terms.”
If that isn’t enough success for one individual, Porter also has his hands on directing. The upcoming film What If centers around “trans joy” as a Black transgender high schooler.
“It’s a coming-of-age rom-com in the spirit of the old John Hughes movies from the 80s,” Porter said, according to Attitude.

Since winning a Tony and Emmy award for his role in the 2013 Broadway adaption of Kinky Boots, Porter has been unstoppable. We’ll just have to wait and see what he does next. For now, fans can pre-order “Children” before it drops on October 15.
