‘Schitt’s Creek’ Star Noah Reid to Make New Broadway Debut
Noah Reid, best known for his portrayal of Patrick Brewer in Schitt’s Creek, will make his Broadway debut next spring in Tracy Letts’ comedy, The Minutes. The play originally began previews on February 25, 2020, with its opening date scheduled for March 15, 2020. Initial productions were inevitably suspended due to the pandemic, but with Broadway gradually reopening, the show will pick up previews on March 19, 2022, and open April 7, 2022, at Studio 54.
Along with the modifications in the production timeline, the show has undergone some changes with the cast. Although the rest of the cast remains the same as it was at the time of the shutdown, Reid will replace Armie Hammer, who withdrew the role of Mr. Peel.

The play is directed by Anna D. Shapiro, and Reid will be joined by the original Broadway company. The star-studded cast includes Tracy Letts himself, alongside Tony Award nominee Ian Bradford (“Linda Vista”), Tony Award winner Blair Brown (“Copenhagen”), Cliff Chamberlain (“Superior Donuts”), Tony Award nominee K. Todd Freeman (“Airline Highway”), Danny McCarthy (“To Kill a Mockingbird), Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller (“Waitress”), Sally Murphy (“Linda Vista”), Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton (“Choir Boy”) and Jeff Still (“To Kill a Mockingbird”).
Though The Minutes will be Reid’s Broadway debut, he is no stranger to the theater. In Toronto, his stage credits include Hamlet, presented at the Tarragon Theatre, and Annie Baker’s The Aliens and August Strindberg’s Creditors, which ran at the Coal Mine Theatre.

The Minutes is a political comedy that revolves around the inner workings of a city council meeting. Having its original premiere at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago back in 2017, the play became a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2018. Through a unique lens, it tackles themes of hypocrisy, greed, and ambition that boil over as soon as an all too curious newcomer arrives in the small town of Big Cherry.
Although viewers are used to seeing Reid in the light of David Rose’s (Dan Levy) romantic interest, the actor has shown us a wide range of roles he’s ready to take on through his activities in the film industry as well.
Recently, he portrayed Zoey Deutch and Judy Greer’s counterparts in an independent feature film, Buffaloed, and is also set to co-star with Imogen Poots and Josh Brolin in the upcoming Amazon series Outer Range. With all of this exposure, we can be sure to expect a standout performance.
