Ruby Rose Shares Her Toxic Experience at Warner Bros.
Ruby Rose is done being silent. The Orange Is the New Black alumni, 35, opened up on social media about her traumatic experience working for Warner Bros. Television and attacking the network, studios, and producers who work for the CW. Rose alleged toxic behavior, unsafe working environments, and misconduct during her time as Batwoman.
“Enough is enough,” the actress wrote on her Instagram, “I’m going to tell the whole world what really happened on that set. I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again. And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you.”
Ruby Rose’s Instagram Post about her Experience on #Batwoman is shocking she had to go through that, how can she act to the best of her ability in those conditions. She’s the star & treated like that? Imagine how the crew are treated that are still there. #IStandWithRubyRose pic.twitter.com/pkrdB6uwkq

Rose continued, “To my dear, dear fans still asking if I will return to that awful show, I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head NOR DID I QUIT. I DID NOT QUIT, they ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me. I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay I was going to have to sign my rights away. Any threats, any bullying tactics, or blackmail would not make me stand down.”
This is horrifying to read. They put Ruby Rose through actual hell. WB leadership is a cesspool pic.twitter.com/8JSPPgzg3M

While on set, Ruby sustained an injury, breaking her neck, splitting a rib, and developing a tumor which lead to her getting back surgery. The actress claimed that she was forced to return to work ten days after her surgery “or the whole crew and cast would be fired and I’d let everyone down because then WB Television Group head Peter Roth said he wouldn’t recast and I just lost the studio millions (by getting injured on his set).” Rose wasn’t the only cast member to be injured while on set. She alleged that “a crew member suffered third-degree burns and a production assistant was left paralyzed left quadriplegic.” The CW refused to pay for the production assistant’s medical bills, thus, resorting to a GoFundMe page.
My god.. what Ruby Rose and crew of Batwoman have gone through is absolutely messed up. No one should have to endure literal pain and suffering because some WB execs want more money.

They all deserve better.
Rose accused Warner Bros. Television of misconduct. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Batwoman’s showrunner, Caroline Dries refused to suspend filming. The government mandates ultimately shut down the set. In addition, Rose accused Peter Roth, chairman, and CEO of Warner Bros. Television of sexual misconduct, claiming that he liked to have his pants seamed by women while still wearing them. Rose alleged abusive behavior, claiming that former co-star Dougray Scott hit a female stunt double.

“Dougray hurt a female stunt double, he yelled like a little b—h at women and was a nightmare,” Rose wrote on her story. “He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted. He abused women and in turn as a lead of a show I sent an email asking for a no-yelling policy. They declined.”
First Dominic Purcell and now Ruby Rose. I hope more actors speak up about the shit that goes down at these shows, it’s not fair how they got treated and they deserve justice

Both Warner Bros and Dougray Scott denied these claims of abuse and misconduct. On Wednesday, Warner Bros. Television fired back at Rose, issuing a statement, refuting the allegations.
“Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of ‘Batwoman’ based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned.”
Ruby Rose’s IG stories…I’m so shook. I have no words oh my god

Even Scott released a statement of his own, denying the claim of hitting the stunt double.
“As Warner Bros. Television has stated, they decided not to exercise the option to engage Ruby for season two of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about her workplace behavior. I absolutely and completely refute the defamatory and damaging claims made against me by her; they are entirely made up and never happened.”
Ruby Rose’s statements are just one piece of a larger picture of atrocious leadership on @warnerbros productions (both film & TV) and the callous mistreatment or outright injury of the actors and crew on those productions. #IStandWithRayFisher #IStandWithRubyRose

Rose departed from the show in May 2020. Warner Bros decided to fire Rose after one season due to the multiple complaints against them. Javicia Leslie plays Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman. The actress posted an update after her story, “one last thing because no doubt I won’t get another chance…it’s time for me to take my life back and to breathe again after all these years.”
