New King Richard Trailer Features Powerful Beyoncé Anthem ‘Be Alive’
The new trailer to Reinaldo Marcus Green’s King Richard was released on October 21, and it features a powerhouse vocalist: Beyoncé. The singer is contributes to the biopic with an inspiring message: It feels so good to be alive.
King Richard stars Will Smith as Richard Williams, father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams. The film follows Richard’s intense commitment to producing the world’s greatest sports icons to exist. Venus and Serena’s father trains his daughters in Compton, California’s neglected tennis courts — rain or shine. The girls are shaped by their father’s commitment and mother’s balanced perspective and keen intuition. The sisters beat the odds stacked against them, proving to be the most iconic siblings in the sports world.
The King Richard trailer features Beyoncé’s powerful voice soaring throughout. Will Smith took to Instagram writing that he “had chills” listening to Queen B’s fantastic vocals. One of the more powerful examples of Beyoncé’s perfect vocals is when Richard (Smith), with tears in his eyes, asks his daughter a simple question: “Venus Williams, what do you want?” Venus (Saniyya Sidney) replies with tears streaming down her face that she wants “to show all those people I can handle what’s coming.” This emotional exchange prompts the father and daughter to embrace. From this beautiful father-daughter moment, Beyoncé’s vocals effortlessly blend into the trailer with the lyrics, “It feels so good to be alive.”
