Taylor Swift’s Response to Questions About the Inspirations Behind Her Songs is Priceless
Taylor Swift has been re-recording past albums the way she originally wanted. With both Fearless and Red being redone to Swift’s desire, and the music video “I Bet You Still Think About Me” released, it had people wondering if she still thought about the exes that inspired her songs. Swift, 31, sat down with Seth Meyers’ show Late Night with Seth Meyers where he commented on the subject.
“I wonder if there are people who might think that they’re the ones you were singing about if it’s easier or far, far worse for them ten years later,” Seth comments.
“I haven’t thought about their experience, to be honest,” the singer answers with a smile.
Just watched Taylor @taylorswift13 on @sethmeyers. More than I’ve ever listened to her speak for the rest of my life total. Unbelievable how intelligent and savvy she is. Not the image I thought has ever portrayed. She seems pretty badass. #TaylorSwift

When asked about recording the album “Red,” Swift responds with how stressful it was to record it at the time at the age of twenty-two.
“I was honestly really sad because I had actually gone through the stuff that I had sung about. But this time, I’ve got sunglasses on, a mojito, it’s chill this time. It’s really nice to be able to put this album out and not be sad, not be taking breaks in between interviews to cry.”
“Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person.” Swift said, describing the album.“It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators.”
Seth Meyers: Have you thought what the person these songs are about may be thinking about all this 10 years later??

Swift even added how the man who inspired the album reached out to her at the time.
“He was like, ‘I just listened to the album and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.’ That was nice. Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy emails I got from this one dude. It’s a lot more mature way of looking at love that was wonderful until it was terrible, and both people got hurt from it–but one of those people happened to be a songwriter.”
