As the holiday season quickly approaches, everyone is anxiously awaiting to return to the world of The Matrix. It’s been eighteen years since fans became engrossed in Lana Wachowski’s beloved sci-fi franchise, and they are equally eager to see what has become of Keanu Reeves’ beloved Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ iconic heroine, Trinity.

Back in September, Warner Bros. began teasing the fourth installment of The Matrix. It is fittingly titled The Matrix Resurrections, as nearly two decades have passed fans by in the blink of an eye. Warner Bros. shared the trailer on September 9, where fans retreated into their alternative reality of Wonderland, that is, the famed “rabbit hole” Morpheus presents to Neo when he chose to take the red pill. Between the song choice of “White Rabbit” and the aesthetic visuals from Wachowski, fans knew this story is not ready to end just yet.

On November 22, two months later, Warner Bros. released a whopping eight new character posters, mixing the old characters with the new. The studio highlights Reeves’ Neo and Moss’ Trinity, in teal and green, paying homage to the original colors of the code in The Matrix.

Apart from the fan-favorite posters, Warner Bros. also shared other notable characters in the installment. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Laurence Fishburne Morpheus) received a bright orange suit, and Jessica Henwick’s Bugs character is all blue to match her blue-hued hair.

In addition to Abdul-Mateen II and Henwick’s characters, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, and Eréndira Ibarra received red, blue, and purple colored posters. Patrick-Harris will be portraying Thomas Anderson/Neo’s (Reeves) therapist; therefore, him sitting on a chair appearing to be deep in thought is a clever image.

Arguably the biggest standout of all the colorful promotional posters is Priyanka Chopra-Jonas’ photo. The actress receives a dual-toned red and blue poster, paying homage to the alternative realities (the red or blue pill), that Neo is forced to choose from when learning the truth of The Matrix in 1999, the first installment. This urges fans to believe that Chopra’s character is pivotal when re-entering the world of The Matrix.
