Tom Holland to Reprise His Role in New ‘Spider-Man’ Trilogy
Tom Holland isn’t quite finished playing Spider-Man. The twenty-five-year-old actor will be a part of the MCU longer after Sony Producer Amy Pascal revealed in an interview with Fandango that a new trilogy is in the works.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel — [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal said. “We are getting ready to make the next ‘Spider-Man’ movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies. Yes, Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.”

Spider-Man was kicked out of the MCU in 2019 after Sony and Disney failed to agree. Unlike most Marvel superheroes, Spider-Man isn’t owned by Disney and has been owned by Sony since 1998. Holland was the one who helped the two companies come to an agreement to share Spider-Man. A drunken phone call to former Disney boss Bob Iger stopped Spider-Man from leaving the MCU. The British actor spilled the details on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in December of 2019.

“My family and I went to the pub quiz in our local town. We’re doing a quiz, and I’m three pints in, haven’t eaten much, and I get a phone call from an unknown number, and I have a feeling. I’m like, ‘I think this is Bob Iger, but I’m drunk.’”
While intoxicated, Holland sobbed over the possibility of Spider-Man being kicked out of the MCU due to the lack of agreement. “I was really emotional because I felt like it was all coming to an end.”

This month, Holland sat down with GQ Magazine and created speculation about him possibly leaving the MCU soon.
“Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”
