‘Balcony Scene (Tonight)’ From Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ Has Been Released
If you’ve been rewatching the trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story over and over in anticipation of its release, get excited because the first single from the soundtrack was released. “Balcony Scene (Tonight)” sung by Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort, the film’s leads playing Maria and Tony, is available now.
Whether this is your favorite song out of a musical or the first time you’re ever hearing it, you’ll get the story right away. Maria and Tony share their everlasting love for one another despite the disapproval from their families.
With the lyrics, “In my eyes, in my words and in everything I do/Nothing else but you ever/And there’s nothing for me, but Maria/Every sight I see is Maria (Tony, Tony)/Always you, every thought I’ll ever know” it’s impossible not to want to fight for young love.

Aside from the lyrics, fans are freaking out over Rachel Zegler’s soft yet powerful voice. Some are even calling it “angelic.”

West Side Story depicts the tale of forbidden love between Tony and Maria and the rivalry between the Sharks and the Jets. Although the film stays true to its original setting of NYC in the 1950s, be ready for the unexpected as the film will feature some modern twists to cater to a new audience.
What viewers can expect is an appearance by Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the original film. More importantly, all fans can expect to sing and dance in their seats throughout the ultimate cinematic experience.
The whole West Side Story soundtrack will be released on December 3, and West Side Story will premiere in theatres on December 10. “Balcony Scene (Tonight)” is available on all streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
