IDLES Share ‘Pay Your Way In Pain’ Remix
IDLES, the British rock band, shared their rendition to St. Vincent’s hit single, “Pay Your Way In Pain.” The track appears as the first single to Daddy’s Home.
On December 9, IDLES uploaded “Pay Your Way In Pain (IDLES Remix)” to their social media. Mark Bowen, the IDLES guitarist, shared a statement behind reimagining this classic. He reveals, “What I really enjoy about the Daddy’s Home album is using this camp energy in a really violent way. This embracing of the nostalgic even the kitsch but using it to make progressive futuristic music. It reminded me a lot of the energy of early house and techno but wrapped up in this early ’70s aesthetic. I wanted to ramp up the camp and the violence in the remix but still maintain the sentiments and sensibilities of the original track.”

IDLES’ version of “Pay Your Way In Pain” received the ultimate praise from St. Vincent herself. The “Candy Darling” singer calls the band “her idols” and reveals that she is “honored” to have this remix.

Daddy’s Home is the sixth studio album by St. Vincent. She released her seventies-sounding record on May 14 via Loma Vista Records. The Daddy’s Home era has been a magical one for the talented singer. She’s performed the album on hit shows Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and more. She also completed the Daddy’s Home tour.
Her Daddy’s Home era is not over yet. The record is officially a Grammy-nominated album. St. Vincent’s Daddy’s Home is up for Best Alternative Album. She’s in great company as other artists Halsey, Japanese Breakfast, Arlo Parks, and Fleet Foxes are all contenders.
