Producers of ‘Batwoman’ to Bring ‘Gotham Knights’ to The CW
The producers of Batwoman are adding more heroes to Gotham City on The CW with the upcoming series, Gotham Knights.
Unfortunately, Batman doesn’t seem to be making an appearance in the series. Set after his death, one of his adopted sons teams up with the children of some of Gotham’s notorious villains, as they’re framed for Batman’s murder. Which villains, and which adopted son, has yet to be confirmed.
Being that The CW hasn’t portrayed any of the former Robins on it’s shows, it seems that Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake are all a possibility. The three sons were more recently portrayed in HBO Max’s Titans.
Gotham Knights also does not have a confirmation whether it fits into The Arrowverse. The show is also not connected to the upcoming video-game, Gotham Knights, of the same name. We don’t know which members of the “bat-family” are set to be shown in the show, or any actors that have been cast.
But we do know that it is not a spin-off of Batwoman. However the producers and writers are some familiar faces.
The credits for the show include former Gotham and current Batwoman executive producers/writers Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux. Natalie Abrams, who is the current story-editor for Batwoman, is also said to be joining.
The idea of a “Batman show” without featuring the actual Batman in costume is not exactly a new concept. Gotham starring Ben McKenzie aired on Fox in 2014, following future Gotham City Police Commissioner James “Jim” Gordon and the adventures of an adolescent Bruce Wayne. HBO Max continued this idea by airing Titans and Pennyworth, all of which don’t focus on the Batman, but those who are connected to him.
For more on Gotham Knights, we can only wait in anticipation.
