Rooney Mara Cast as Audrey Hepburn in New Upcoming Biopic
Apple Studios has landed a huge new project: an Audrey Hepburn biopic. Academy Award Nominee Rooney Mara will be producing and starring as the legendary actress and humanitarian.
On January 6, it was revealed that Apple Studios has secured a biopic about Oscar winner Audrey Hepburn. The playwright Michael Mitnick is penning the script and Call Me By Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino will be directing.
This project will mark Mara’s third credit as a producer, as she previously worked on the documentary The End of Medicine and The Truth About Emmanuel. The talented actress was Oscar-nominated for Best Actress in 2012 for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Best Supporting Actress in 2016 for Carol.

Mara is the perfect choice to play Hepburn, as the actress is also devoted to causes near and dear to her heart. Mara is an animal rights activist, who constantly uses her platform to advocate for change. She is also an environmentalist, urging those to understand the ways in which environmental destruction is linked to animal agriculture.

Audrey Hepburn starred in a string of successful films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sabrina, Funny Face, My Fair Lady, and Roman Holiday. Her role as Princess Anne in Roman Holiday won her the Oscar in 1954. The actress famously retired from acting in the 80s and chose to devote her time to humanitarian causes. Hepburn was closely linked to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF stated that the actress, “relentlessly works day in and day out to deliver the essentials that give every child an equitable chance in life: health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more.”
