The Weeknd’s New Album ‘Dawn FM’ Drops Just in Time for the Weekend
The highly anticipated wait is over. The Weeknd’s new music project, Dawn FM, was officially released on January 7, and all of its glory and mastery is stunning fans worldwide.
The impeccable musical artistry held within Dawn FM was officially announced on New Year’s Day, essentially leaving fans in the comment section playing the role of detective and speculating the whereabouts of Dawn FM’s future release date due to the ambiguity of its post.
The Weeknd taking to their official Instagram account posted a text thread depicting a conversation that clearly states: “Happy New Year! Everything feels chaotic again. Music can heal, and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let’s just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people…XO.”
This meant that it was time for us to prep for an upcoming release from our favorite Grammy-winning R&B singer and performer, curating and birthing hits such as ‘Can’t Feel My Face,’ ‘The Hills,’ ‘Starboy,’ and ‘Heartless.’
Our favorite XO artist thus continued to tease fans to welcome in the 2022 year upon Dawn FM’s release posting an aesthetic photograph of an afternoon sky to Instagram with a caption that reads, “wake up at dawn tomorrow…”
As you would imagine, this sent fans into a frenzy through the captions, subtle hint, and key phrased usage of “dawn,” theorizing that the latest release would be revealed on January 4. Yet, there were other plans set in place by our Starboy.
An exclusive Dawn FM trailer released was on January 4, with a caption on The Weeknd’s official Instagram account that reads, “new album: dawn FM // January 7th,” allowing fans and music lovers alike to finally feel at ease and count down for the highly anticipated January 7th date which was three days after the release of the official trailer.
Now that it’s January 7, we are loving every bit of Dawn FM. Bringing us songs to cruise and vibe into the weekend like, “Here we go…Again,” featuring fellow musical artist Tyler, The Creator, “A Take By Quincy,” “Best Friends,” with other collaborations including Lil Wayne and the legendary producer Quincy Jones who collaborated on Michael Jackson’s full body of work.
Dawn FM hits a new peak in The Weeknd’s career as it swoons audiences with its producing, song-writing, and genius lyricism. It transforms and uses the mesh of popular beats and ties in the Artist’s eccentric abilities in R&B and Pop. The Los Angeles Times considers it a “Kinder, Gentler (but still freaky)…2022’s first great album.” And, we couldn’t agree more.
Along with the new album drop, The Weeknd hosted a 103.5 Broadcasting live amongst Amazon and Twitch platforms, allowing audiences to join in “together” at a virtual listening party on January 6 streaming at 9 PM PT/12 AM ET.
The 16 song track-list in Dawn FM is quite fitting as we continue to stargaze and immerse ourselves in our inner feelings and heartbreak. The Weeknd did it again, and we are pretty content with the offerings that 2022 brings us during this new music Friday.
Just like the ending song lyrics for “Less than Zero,” we can’t quite get it out of our heads.
