Bleachers Replace Roddy Ricch as New SNL Musical Guest
Bleachers, the pop band fronted by Jack Antonoff, will make their grand debut as musical guests on the iconic Saturday Night Live stage.
Saturday Night Live hit a roadblock this week as rapper Roddy Ricch, who was scheduled to make his debut as SNL’s musical guest, has unfortunately dropped out due to exposure to COVID-19. He took to his Instagram stories on January 12, writing, “Due to recent COVID exposure on my team and to keep everyone safe; I won’t be able to perform on SNL this weekend.” He gives his fans hope by adding, “I’m working with the SNL team to lock in a new date, though.”
Although a difficult decision for Ricch and his team, safety continues to be the number one priority. The pop band, Bleachers will be Ricch’s replacement, appearing as the musical guest alongside West Side Story actress Ariana DeBose, who is also making her debut on the hit late-night comedy show.
Bleachers shared a statement from Twitter revealing their excitement at being the first musical guest of 2022. The band wrote, “the hardest attempt to date of taking the sadness out of Saturday night.” The band is up for the challenge and equally excited to perform songs from their third studio album, Take The Sadness Out of Saturday Night.
