This recipe will take around 15-20 minutes to cook and you will need some clear counter space to chop a few veggies. Below we share the ingredients you will need.

Ingredients:

5 garlic cloves or 1 tbsp of minced garlic

1/4 white onion

1 small can of tomato paste

1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream

Extra virgin olive oil

Ground black pepper

Pasta of your choice (I recommend using the Barilla Pasta Penne No. 72 Box or the Barilla Pasta Fettuccine Box)

Shredded parmesan

Red pepper flakes

Italian spices

Dried parsley flakes

Recipe:

Step 1

Boil a large pot of salted water. Meanwhile, chop ¼ of white onion into very fine small pieces. 

Step 2

Crush garlic with the flat side of the knife to peel off skins, and mince into fine pieces. Pour 1 tsp of olive oil into a large deep pan and pour in the white onion. Cook onion until very light golden brown and add garlic. Stir together until both are golden and season with salt, black pepper, dried parsley, and Italian spices.

Step 3

Add tomato paste to the pan and incorporate well. Add ½  a cup of heavy whipping cream. Mix and put the lid on the pan and let it cook for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Meanwhile, cook pasta in boiling water, stirring until pasta is al dente. Once done save 1/2 cup of the boiling liquid.

Step 5

Add the pasta into the pan and stir. Add ½ cup of pasta water. Stir and toss until pasta is completely covered in sauce. Toss the pasta around on medium heat and add red pepper flakes. Stir and toss until fully covered and the pasta sauce is thick.

Step 6

Serve pasta topped with Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, sea salt, and black pepper.
