The news does not come as a shock, with viewership rates of the show increasing almost 100% from season 1, according to Variety. The show has been the subject of much debate due to its heavy themes. Euphoria has stirred controversy throughout its airtime, with D.A.R.E., an anti-drug abuse organization, among the most recent critics.
In a statement made to TMZ, they outlined their issues with the show, “HBO’s television drama, Euphoria, chooses to misguidedly glorify and erroneously depict high school student drug use, addiction, anonymous sex, violence, and other destructive behaviors as common and widespread in today’s world.”
