Sarah Jessica Parker Admits Not Wanting Ex-Co-Star Kim Cattrall In the New Sex and the City Reboot
Sarah Jessica Parker got candid about her feelings towards ex-co-star Kim Cattrall. The Sex and the City actress, 56, revealed during an interview with Variety how she wouldn’t be happy if Cattrall returned for the reboot for And Just Like That.
“I don’t think I would because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared. I haven’t participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.”
Why in the world is Sarah Jessica Parker proclaiming she doesn’t want Kim Cattrall on #AndJustLikeThat when Cattrall has never done a single thing to convey she’s changed her mind?

Showrunner Michael Patrick King agreed with Parker about not having Cattrall return. To fill Cattrall’s absence, Parker’s character keeps in contact with Cattrall’s through text messages. This was a way to keep Cattrall’s character to preserve her legacy alive.
I don’t believe Cattral ever wanted to return and still doesn’t. SJP stirring an empty pot bc the series is probably in trouble from the reviews I’ve read.

“Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t want Kim Cattrall to return as Samantha on ‘And Just Like That'” https://t.co/CfSTSkyfnn
“We didn’t go to Kim for this, you know,” Parker explained. “After we didn’t do the movie and the studio couldn’t meet what she wanted to do, we have to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her. It didn’t fit into what was important or needed for us.
“There’s a very distinct line between Samantha and Kim. Samantha’s not gone. Samantha’s present, and I think, was handled with such respect and elegance. She wasn’t villainized. She was a human being who had feelings about a relationship, so I think we found a way to address it, which was necessary and important for people that loved her.”

That’s something both Parker and Cattrall can agree on. In 2019, Cattrall told ET that she had no interest in playing Samantha again.
“The answer was always no and a respectful, firm, no. I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous. This isn’t about more money, this is not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another.”
The original Sex and the City centered around four best friends Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), as they navigate their lives in their mid-thirties/their early forties.
And Just Like That explores Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt’s life in their fifties. Sex and the City scored two movies in 2008 and 2010, which follows the quartet’s complicated love lives.
The original Sexy and the City, the two movies, and the reboot, And Just Like That all can be streamed on HBO Max.
