Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley Join New Film Ferrari
Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley are now cast in Michael Mann’s long-running project, Ferrari. The film is now on track after Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman have parted ways.
Driver will be portraying Enzo Ferrari, and Cruz will play his wife, Laura Ferrari, in the biopic about the famous racecar icon. Woodley takes on the role of Lina Lardi, Enzo’s mistress. Michael Mann released a statement about the trio joining his cast. He reveals, “Being able to have these wonderfully talented artists, actors Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley, bring to life these unique characters on location in Modena and the Emilia-Romagna is a vision fulfilled.”
Ferrari is set in the year 1957, where Enzo Ferrari faces bankruptcy and a turbulent marriage with his wife, Laura. The racecar driver’s problems become heightened when his team decides to take a risk on a race 1,000 miles across Italy (Mille Miglia). The film is adapted from Brock Yates’ 1991 book Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine.
Driver is no stranger to portraying real-life figures. He recently played Italian businessman and fashion mogul, Maurizio Gucci opposite Lady Gaga, his on-screen ex-wife, in the Ridley Scott film, House of Gucci. Driver is also a two-time Oscar nominee for BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story.

Cruz is fresh off an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her work in Parallel Mothers. She’s an Academy Award winner and a 4-time nominee. Woodley was recently nominated for an Emmy for her role in Big Little Lies. Her latest film credits include The Mauritanian opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Jodie Foster.
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have both earned their fourth Academy Award nomination, bringing the couple’s total Oscar nominations to eight. There’s gotta be a stat in there somewhere #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/tYt1MoVkmz

I feel like Shailene Woodley’s performance in Big Little Lies gets overlooked. She gave such a heart breaking phenomenal performance. pic.twitter.com/hoTf6ZKJcw
