But Sheerios and Swifties had figured things out well before the official announcement was made. In Sheeran’s Instagram post on February 2, he uploaded a picture of a signed playing card featuring a joker and a blonde queen.

His caption read, “Signing some CDs for something coming in a bit, keep an eye out,” and fans immediately knew what he meant.

“JOKER AND THE QUEEN REMIX WITH TAYLOR SO TRUE,” one user commented. “THE REMIX WITH TAYLOR, RIGHT?” added another.

That was over a week ago, yet the speculations were spot on. On Wednesday, Sheeran took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing, “The Joker And The Queen featuring my good friend @taylorswift13 is out this Friday. Link in bio to pre-order or pre-save it x.”

To add to the excitement, Sheeran uploaded a trailer for the song’s official music video to YouTube, which will premiere this evening at 7 p.m. EST.

Sheeran and Swift have been close friends for years and have previously worked together on three of Swift’s songs, including: “Everything Has Changed” (2012), “End Game” (2017), and “Run” (2021). With a long history of camaraderie and collaboration, here’s to hoping “The Joker and The Queen” won’t be the last single we see from these two beloved musicians.
