Euphoria Cast Share Details on New Upcoming Season 2
The six leading ladies of the Euphoria cast get candid about season two in The Cut’s feature, “The Women Make Euphoria.”
The story written by Evan Ross Katz is a part of the The Cut‘s February Fashion issue. The women who grace the cover are some of the most recognizable faces in modern media.
In full Hollywood glam and chic black attire, actresses Barbie Ferreira, Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow depart from their characters’ very different signature looks on the front of The Cut’s latest print edition.
The feature hits all of its necessary bases — and then some. From plot controversy and production feuds to film stress and female friendship, here are the highlights from The Cut’s latest interview with the women who make Euphoria.
A Lot of Season Two Was Rewritten
One of the most surprising takeaways from “The Women Make Euphoria” was that most of season two’s original storyline was scrapped. There was a year-long halt in production for the second season because of the pandemic, and when filming finally resumed, many of the storylines were entirely different.

However, Zendaya believes this was for the best. “The things that didn’t make it definitely needed to die,” she told The Cut.
The Cast Gets Along Really Well…
Most of Euphoria’s main actresses have been in the limelight for some time. Ferreira and Schafer have been models for years. Apatow, Sweeney, and Zendaya have been acting since childhood. Demie, however, was relatively unknown in comparison.

Luckily, this didn’t contribute to any exclusion among the castmates. In fact, Demie told The Cut they all “clicked right away” and “felt like a family.”
…But There Are Some Struggles With the Show’s Director
Rumors have been circulating for quite some time about a feud between Barbie Ferreira and Euphoria’s director and writer Sam Levinson. Allegedly, Ferreira expressed disappointment in her character’s direction this season and Levinson cut her lines as a result.
Barbie Ferreira talks to @TheCut about her #Euphoria character’s confusing storyline:

“Kat’s journey this season is a little more internal and a little mysterious to the audience. She is secretly going through a lot of existential crises. She loses her marbles a little bit” pic.twitter.com/F4GFyEKacv
While Ferreira has not confirmed or denied this, her absence at the show’s premiere, and her lack of character development this season have only fueled these rumors.
Sydney Sweeney Found Her Voice
Compared to her co-stars, Sydney Sweeney has filmed a disproportionate amount of nude scenes throughout the show. While the actress seeks to eliminate the stigma surrounding female nudity on screen, she felt like many of her topless scenes in season two were unnecessary.

“I feel way more comfortable saying, ‘I don’t know if Cassie would make this decision,’” Sweeney told The Cut when discussing her decision to bring her concerns to Sam Levinson.
