The Trailer for Amy Poehler’s New Documentary Lucy and Desi Has Been Released
The trailer for Amy Poehler’s new documentary Lucy and Desi has dropped. The documentary explores the relationship between America’s favorite television couple and their impact on the entertainment industry.
“Lucy and Desi are two outsiders who changed an entire industry,” Poehler told Entertainment Weekly during an interview. “Their story represents the success that hard work and big swings can bring. But icons are people, and hopefully, this film reminds us of that.”

In addition to revealing the truth of Ball and Arnaz’s relationship, there are exclusive interviews with their children, Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill and Desi Arnaz Jr. Although most of the documentary is centered around Ball, Poehler made sure Arnaz received screen time as well.
“Desi Arnaz was an amazing musician. One could say he was as equally talented as he was a businessman. He worked his way into rooms where few Latino men were allowed to enter. His contribution to the show and to the success of Lucy and Desi is often minimized, when in fact he was an incredible innovator and business leader. And maybe most importantly, the character of Ricky represented a new way of looking at a Cuban-American in the 1950s.”

There have been plenty of films surrounding the power couple. Last year, Being the Ricardos debuted on Amazon Prime Video where it followed Ball and Arnaz as they faced hurdles as a couple and individuals. The film stars Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball and Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz. The film has been nominated for several Oscars.
The official trailer is available down below. Lucy and Desi will make its debut on March 4 on Prime Video. The original I Love Lucy can be streamed on Hulu and Being the Ricardos on Prime Video.
