Andrew Garfield Stars in Anticipated Crime Series, Under the Banner of Heaven
Andrew Garfield is crossing over from the big screen to TV with a lead role in an upcoming crime series, Under The Banner of Heaven. Based on a book by the same name, the crime series will premiere exclusively on FX and Hulu.

The series is about a Mormon homicide detective, Pyre (Garfield), investigating the gruesome murders of Brenda (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Erica Lafferty. He finds out later on that the murders are connected to the church, stirring up an identity crisis with his faith.

Garfield along with Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, Billy Howle, Gil Birmingham, Adelaide Clemens, Rory Culkin, Seth Numrich, Chloe Pirrie, Sandra Seacat, and Christopher Heyerdahl will star in the limited crime series.
Furthermore, Dustin Lance Black created the series. He will serve as an executive producer of the show alongside Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Anna Culp, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, director David Mackenzie, and Gillian Berrie.
FX released a trailer for the series where Garfield narrates, “The evidence points to things and beliefs that I’ve only ever heard whisperings about… I wonder how something so horrific could have come to pass.”

While the show was initially supposed to be a film adaption of the book, Variety states, “Under the Banner of Heaven, was originally intended to be adapted into a feature film in 2011, with Dustin Lance Black attached to write and Ron Howard slated as director.”
