Meghan and Prince Harry to be Honored at NAACP Image Awards
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to stun on the red carpet as they attend the 53rd NAACP Image Awards. There, they’ll be receiving a special honor.
The couple will be awarded the very esteemed President’s Award for their continued activism and philanthropy. President and CEO of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson, stated, “Not only do they continue to lead by example, The Duke and Duchess have also decided to inspire the next generation of activists through the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award, ensuring the support and recognition of generations of civil rights leaders to come.”
The royal couple beamed at the news as they shared a joint statement. “It’s a true honor to be recognized by President Derrick Johnson and the NAACP, whose efforts to propel racial justice and civil rights are as vital today as they were nearly 115 years ago.”
Past recipients of this prestigious award include Muhammad Ali, LeBron James, Rihanna, JAY-Z, and so many more influential people. The Twittersphere can’t contain their excitement at the royal couple’s upcoming appearance.

In addition to receiving the President Award, the Duke and Duchess will be administering an award of their own in partnership with the NAACP. The NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award along with $100,000 will go to Dr. Safiya Noble for her noble work studying how digital technology connects with race, gender, and culture.
The 53rd NAACP Image Awards airs live Saturday, February 26 at 8:00 pm on BET. There will be a performance by Grammy-winning songstress Mary J. Blige and a star-studded guest list. Be on the lookout for Tiffany Haddish, LL Cool J, Simu Liu, Zendaya, and others.
