Florence and the Machine Announce New Album Dance Fever
Florence Welch, frontwoman of the rock band Florence and the Machine, announced exciting news on March 10. The band is releasing their fifth studio album, Dance Fever, on May 13. The record is produced by Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff and Glass Animals’ Dave Bayley.
Welch revealed on Twitter that Dance Fever is a “fairytale of 14 songs.” Fans have already been gifted two singles: “King” and “Heaven Is Here.” After sharing the news of a new album on the way, a third single was also released: “My Love.” Each single has contained an accompanying music video directed by Autumn de Wilde.

The concept of choreomania inspires the English band’s latest album. In a press release, Welch was fascinated by this Renaissance-era phenomenon, where “people danced to the point of exhaustion or death.” In addition to this concept, Welch drew further lyrical inspiration from “the tragic heroines of pre-Raphaelite art, the gothic fiction of Carmen Maria Machado and Julia Armfield, the visceral wave of folk horror film from The Wicker Man and The Witch to Midsommar.”
The phenomenon of choreomania is especially evident in the track “Heaven Is Here.” Welch stated that the track was the first song written in lockdown. The “Breaking Down” singer elaborates, “I wanted to make something monstrous. And this clamour of joy, fury, and grief was the first thing that came out.”
she just revealed it IS based on choreomania with all the elements mentioned above,,,,,, FLORENCE YOU GENIUS

Autumn de Wilde designed the cover art for Dance Fever. The stunning photograph features Welch in the center, standing in front of a golden moon. She is surrounded by dark branches, a butterfly above her head, and two big pink flowers resting on each side of her hair.
We cannot be more excited to hear the remaining tracks from Dance Fever. The fifth album will be released on May 13, but it is available to pre-order now.
