The Crowded Room is centered on true stories, exploring how people handle their mental health issues in the real world. The anthology series is based on The Minds of Billy Milligan, a biography by Daniel Keyes. The biography focuses on the life of Billy Milligan, a man who was first acquitted of a crime because he suffers from dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder).
Uncharted actor Tom Holland will embody Danny Sullivan, the lead character in the series. Sullivan is an original character similar to Milligan, the central figure in the biography. Viewers will see Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body) as Rya, a clinical psychologist. In addition, Emmy Rossum (Shameless) will personate Candy, the mother of Sullivan.
The Crowded Room will include ten episodes and is written by Akiva Goldsman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith). Goldsman serves as an executive producer alongside Tom Holland, Alexandra Milchan, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer.
