Fans of Dolly Parton must go another year with the “Queen of Country” not being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after the singer declined her nomination.

In a sincere message, Dolly Parton posted on Twitter that she has decided to decline her nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the post, the music legend wrote, “Even though I’m extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated…I don’t feel that I have earned that right.” The Jolene singer continued her heartfelt message stating, “I really do not want votes split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.”

Many fans have shown their opposition to the idea that Parton has not “earned the right”, though they appreciate her humility and have shown support for her nonetheless. The “9-5” singer has made her music and philanthropy a top priority. In light of the Covid-19 crisis, she donated 1 million dollars to Covid research and also invested her royalties from the iconic song “I Will Always Love You” into a black Nashville community. The song was written by Parton and made famous by other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Whitney Houston.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been an honor for decades. They have added legends from Aretha Franklin to Greenday to their roster. This year’s nominees included the likes of Eminem, Lionel Richie, Rage Against the Machine, and of course, the country singer herself.

Despite her refusal to be inducted, it’s no secret that Dolly Parton will go down in history as one of the most talented music legends of all time.
