Russian Doll was set to be renewed by Netflix in June 2019, but due to COVID-19 it took a while for the new season to come. The original cast will return with the addition of new cast members: Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Carolyn Michelle Smith (House of Cards), and Sharlto Copley (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil).

The new season will take place four years after Season 1. According to Netflix, after escaping the time loop together, Nadia and Alan encounter another universal challenge in Manhattan, where they embark on an “ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure.” The adventure quickly becomes more than they can handle and the pair must work together again to escape.

Netflix has released a teaser for the new season that shows Nadia falling into the time portal before stating, “When the Universe F**** with you. Let it.”

Season 2 of Russian Doll will premiere on April 20th exclusively on Netflix and will have a total of eight episodes. Fans can get a refresher on what happened by rewatching Season 1.
