Peter Gadiot to Play Shanks in the New One Piece Live-Action Series
British actor Peter Gadiot has been chosen to star as legendary Captain Shanks in the upcoming Netflix live-action show, One Piece. The Yellowjackets actor is the latest member to join the cast of the live-action series. The current cast members include Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D Luffy, Mackenyu as Rorona Zoro, and Emily Rudd as Nami.
One Piece is an anime based on the iconic Japanese manga written by Eiichiro Oda. The Japanese animation follows the main character Luffy (Godoy). Luffy is a young man who goes on a fantastical journey to become the king of the pirates. Luffy and his pirate crew explore mysterious and exotic lands to find the treasure, “One Piece.”

Shanks (Gadiot), the legendary red-haired pirate king, is Luffy’s childhood hero. Gadiot is working alongside Godoy and other cast members in the live-action as pirates going on an amazing journey. On March 28, Netflix Japan released a tweet of Gadiot, who is “stoked” for the audience to watch the series.

Since 2021, Netflix has released teasers and news about the One Piece live-action series. Oda, the author himself, even wrote a statement about the series. Tomorrow Studies is producing the live series, with Oda as the executive producer. They’re excited to tell the story of Luffy and his pirate crew – and we can’t wait. According to One Piece Netflix’s Twitter account, the live-action will have one season and ten episodes.

This series has been in the works since 2017 and is currently in production. Fans are extremely excited about this long-awaited live-action series. Many are saying that Gadiot is the perfect actor to be the legendary Shanks.
