St. Vincent won her first Grammy in 2015, winning Best Alternative Album for her self-titled St. Vincent. Her second Grammy came at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019, winning Best Rock Song from her fifth studio album, MASSEDUCTION. Daddy’s Home, released in May 2021, romanticizes the 1970s period in downtown New York. In addition, the singer channels the psychedelia of the ’70s with standout songs such as “The Melting Of The Sun” and “Live In The Dream.” The record has fusions of funk, soul, and rock.
She described her new sound when she spoke to The New Cue as “the sound of being out and Downtown in New York, 1973. Glamour that hasn’t slept in three days.” The image shows St. Vincent in full glamour, wearing a green-colored shirt, donning a blonde bob, and manipulating the sound of various instruments.
The visionary multi-music-tasker Annie Clark spills as many beans as allowed about St Vincent’s “fluid and wiggly” forthcoming album. “It’s the sound of being down and out Downtown in New York, 1973.” pic.twitter.com/6ZV5yGR4Yz
