After eyeing one another during an elevator ride, their mutual attraction is evident. However, the two keep their distance at first. Then, Jung finally introduces herself at the bar, and the couple’s idyllic montage begins.

The duo sings along to the catchy “Out of Time” lyrics, growing increasingly animated as the story progresses. From running down halls to chatting over champagne to dancing on tables, the singer and model appear to be having the time of their lives. However, everything is not what it seems.

When the song comes to an end, the video takes an eerie turn. The audio becomes warped, and a stranger seems to be watching the pair from a sterile doctor’s office. Blood seeps from a champagne bucket, The Weeknd envisions his older self, and a blinding light appears. Suddenly, Jim Carrey’s ominous voice appears. “Don’t you dare touch that dial,” he warns. “Because like the song says, ‘You are out of time.’”

What follows is a disturbing scene of the singer in an operating room, with actor Jim Carrey peering down on him through a magnifying glass. With white-gloved hands, he places a plastic mask over The Weeknd’s face before addressing the camera directly. “Here’s thirty minutes of easy listening to some slow tracks on 103.5 Dawn FM,” he concludes with an ominous expression.

The “Out of Time” music video drop wasn’t the artist’s only exciting news on Tuesday. As of April 5, the 32-year-old singer’s songs “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy” were officially certified as diamond. His other hit song “The Hills” was certified in 2020, meaning he now has three diamond digital awards. He is the sixth solo artist to accomplish such a feat.
