Ex-child star Jennette McCurdy is ready to tell her truth with the upcoming release of her emotional and riveting memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died.

The former actress announced the release of her book on her Instagram on Monday.

McCurdy is most known for her role as Sam Puckett in the hit Nickelodeon series iCarly and spin-off Sam and Cat. She starred alongside Miranda Cosgrove in iCarly and proceeded to share the screen with “Dangerous Woman” singer Ariana Grande. However, despite her character’s warm smiles and funny jokes, a different story can be told for the actress.

The memoir title I’m Glad My Mom Died seems brash to some but also piques the interest of others. On the cover, the singer-songwriter is seen in all pink and appears to be holding a pink urn of her mother’s ashes. Additionally, the book title has the same name as her successful one-woman show. People have already expressed their excitement to read what McCurdy has to say.

The new author has been very open about her experience as a child actor and the abuse she faced at the hands of her mother. She has explained the immense pressure she was under as the breadwinner of her family. This led to severe anxiety and self-hatred, ultimately manifesting itself into an addiction and eating disorder.

I’m Glad My Mom Died hits shelves on August 9 and is sure to be one for the books (pun intended). The memoir is now available for preorder, and McCurdy will also narrate the audiobook.
