Rihanna Makes Her Debut on New Billionaires List
Rihanna, businesswoman, designer, and the world’s richest female musician, has joined Forbes’ annual list of billionaires for the first time ever. The American business magazine released its 2022 report on Tuesday, which included newcomers Peter Jackson, Josh Kushner, and Melinda French Gates, among others. According to Forbes, the 34-year-old Fenty Beauty mogul is the first billionaire to emerge from Barbados (her home country). With a net worth of $1.7 billion, the singer ranks #1,729 on this year’s list.
Out of the 236 newcomers on the list this year, only 33 are women; 11 are self-made. Rihanna is one of the 11, and for good reason. The expecting mother is among the wealthiest female entertainers globally, second to Oprah Winfrey.
However, Forbes’ recent report attributes Rihanna’s newfound billionaire status to her beauty and fashion endeavors — not her successful music career. Fenty Beauty cosmetics comprises the bulk of Rihanna’s wealth at an estimated $1.4 billion. Her stakes in the Savage X Fenty lingerie line make up nearly all the rest at around $270 million.

When the artist became Barbados’ first billionaire last year, she shared her thoughts with the New York Times. “It’s tricky because it’s hard to even accept that’s where you’re at because I know where I’ve come from,” she revealed. “At the same time, it feels good to be able to inspire young women and boys, who like me, come from humble beginnings, who come from parents who are immigrants or who are immigrants themselves, to be able to do this.”
