The Northman, directed by Robbert Eggers, is a new Viking epic about Prince Amleth’s revenge. Amleth is on a journey to avenge his father’s death, King Aurvandil (Ethan Hawke). Amleth encounters Olga, and the two embark on a romantic relationship throughout the quest. The revenge thriller film also features Nicole Kidman as Queen Gundrún, Willem Dafoe as Heimir the Fool, and singer Bjork as Seeress.

According to Taylor-Joy, she truly enjoyed working with Skarsgård for the upcoming film. The Queen’s Gambit actress shared with The Belfast Telegraph that he was the “perfect person” to do her first on-screen intimate scenes with and that they formed a special bond during the filming process. “We’re so lucky because we have a really close brother-sister bond. And that is, as weird as it sounds in terms of a romantic relationship, that’s the kind of energy that you want because you know the other person has your back, they’re going to take care of you,” Taylor-Joy stated.

This isn’t Taylor-Joy’s first time working with Eggers. They worked together for the remarkable film The Witch. They reunited after seven years, and Skarsgård enjoyed working alongside the two and learning from Taylor-Joy. Skarsgård shared with The Belfast Telegraph that Egger’s cinematic style is “very unique, almost all the scenes are one long, continuous shot which was meticulously planned, which is a way of working I’m not used to so I was very grateful to have Anya lead me through that.”

Fans were excited to see Taylor-Joy, Skarsgård, and Eggers together on the red carpet, and we are equally ecstatic for its U.S. release. Make sure to mark your calendars for the release of the film on April 15.
